Care-Meter vs Log My Care

Honest summary

Log My Care is a UK care management system used by residential, nursing, learning disabilities, supported living, and domiciliary providers. Their public surface positions them as a connected platform with care planning, daily logs, incident management, risk assessments, body maps, outcomes and goals, handovers, and to-dos — plus paid add-ons for rostering, eMAR, and a family app. They publish a free Starter tier for providers with fewer than 10 service users.

Care-Meter is not a care management system. It's a CQC inspection-readiness governance layer that reads care records — paper, photo, voice, typed, or exported from systems like Log My Care — and runs Reg 17 evidence completeness, Reg 18 notification drafting, Reg 20 Duty of Candour tracking, and Mock Inspection over them.

We do different jobs. Most homes that need both will use both.

When to choose Log My Care

Log My Care is a strong choice if you need:

  • A complete digital care management system as your primary record of care, with care planning, daily logs, risk assessments, body maps, handovers, and incident management built in
  • A free entry tier that works for very small services (under 10 service users)
  • Built-in eMAR and rostering as add-on modules in the same product
  • A family app for resident-family communication
  • ISO and Cyber Essentials Plus certification, GP Connect integration, and London Care Record integration in production today
  • An established product with a substantial UK customer base and 24/7 live support on paid plans
  • Group-level multi-site oversight in a tier that's been in market for years (Outstanding tier)

If you don't currently have any digital care record system and want one product that covers most of your day-to-day operational needs, Log My Care is well-positioned for that buyer.

When to choose Care-Meter

Care-Meter is a strong choice if you need:

  • Reg 17 evidence completeness checks across all 34 CQC Single Assessment Framework Quality Statements
  • A pre-inspection readiness score (Mock Inspection) before CQC turns up
  • Reg 18 notification drafting that produces the actual notification text after a notifiable incident, not just the incident log itself
  • A Reg 20 Duty of Candour compliance chain that tracks the four sequential steps and flags overdue ones
  • A PIR drafting assistant that builds the Provider Information Return from your live records
  • Per-home flat pricing that doesn't scale with bed count
  • A way to digitise paper records without re-platforming the rest of your stack

If you already have a DSCR and your problem is "I record care but I can't always show it's defensible at inspection," Care-Meter is built for that.

Use both

Most of our pilots that come from Log My Care don't switch — they keep Log My Care as their care management system and use Care-Meter as the governance layer that runs over the top. The flow:

  1. Care continues to be recorded in Log My Care as today
  2. Each week, the home exports records from Log My Care
  3. The export feeds into Care-Meter, which runs Reg 17 evidence completeness, governance flags, and (when applicable) drafts Reg 18 notifications
  4. Mock Inspection produces a live readiness score across all 34 Quality Statements
  5. At inspection, Care-Meter produces the inspection narrative pack from live records

We don't compete with Log My Care for the daily-record-keeping role. We address the manual scramble that a manager does the week before inspection.

FAQ

Is Care-Meter a replacement for Log My Care?

No. Log My Care is a digital care management system; Care-Meter is an inspection-readiness governance layer. They do different jobs. Most of our customers that come from Log My Care use both.

Can Care-Meter import data from Log My Care?

We currently support CSV and PDF export ingestion. Direct API integration is on the roadmap, not yet live.

How does Care-Meter's pricing compare to Log My Care?

Care-Meter is per home, flat (£149 / £249 / £349 per month plus a free under-10-residents tier). Log My Care's Starter tier is free for fewer than 10 service users; Pro and Outstanding pricing is available on request from their sales team. We can't make a verified like-for-like price comparison without that public number; for a typical 30-bed home, ask both vendors and compare on like-for-like service-user count.

Does Care-Meter have eMAR?

No, not as an active medication administration system. We're building MAR chart governance ingest — you upload a photo or PDF of your MAR chart and we surface missed-dose patterns, refusal clusters, and controlled drug discrepancies as Reg 12 governance flags. For active eMAR, Log My Care's eMAR add-on is one option.

Does Care-Meter have rostering?

No. We don't build rostering. Log My Care's rostering add-on is one option.

What does Mock Inspection actually do?

Mock Inspection runs your live records against the 34 Quality Statements in CQC's Single Assessment Framework and produces a colour-coded readiness score per Quality Statement, plus a list of evidence gaps. Full release August 2026. Early access available now on the Inspect tier.

Does Log My Care notify CQC for me after a Reg 18 incident?

We don't see a Reg 18 notification drafter listed on Log My Care's public features pages as of 10 May 2026. Their incident management module covers logging, safeguarding flags, escalation to cases, body maps, and reporting. The actual Reg 18 notification submission to CQC remains a manual workflow on their public surface as we read it.
